WORK SCHEDULE OF THE READING HALL

The reading hall is open from Monday to Friday 1000 – 16 30.

The last Friday of each month is considered a sanitary day.

 

WORK PERMIT PROCEDURE OF RESEARCHERS IN THE READING HALLS OF THE ARCHIVE

The reading hall work is implemented following the “Instruction” of the users’ work in the reading halls of the “National Archives of Armenia” SNCO.

Users of the Archive reading halls are allowed to work with archival documents based on personal applications. Users carrying out academic work or service assignments may submit an official letter from their institution or organization.

In personal applications (official letters) a users’ last name, first name, patronymic, position, academic title and degree, research topic, inclusion period, and purpose are mentioned.

Users are allowed to work in reading halls (usually from the date of registration until the end of the year) by the Archive administration. If necessary, the extension of this period will be agreed upon with the Archive administration or authorized employees of the reading halls.

 

WORKS, MICROCOPIES

AND PROCEDURE FOR GIVING INFORMATION AND SEARCH TOOLS TO USERS

 

  • Cases and other materials are provided to users based on the completed order form (Download order form copy).
  • Each user can have no more than 10 cases at a time. Taking into account the peculiarities of the formation of archival documents to be used, the Archive administration can set other quantities of files and documents to be provided to users.
  • The deadline for submitting lists, files, documents, and materials to users is set by the Archive administration within no more than 3 days from the moment of submitting an order.

To ensure the protection of archival documents, the following is not allowed:

  • Take the works out of the reading halls or transfer them to the third party, leave the case open for a while, under the influence of the sun and electric light, bend, curve, and fold the top or bottom corners of the document, insert various objects in the file, make random shifts of unstitched case sheets, (or) move the sheets from one case to another, or move sheets from one case to another.
  • Usage of glue, correction pen, copy paper, scissors, and cutting, piercing, or other objects when working with archival documents.
  • Photographing archival documents with a camera or other means;
  • Making changes, corrections, underlines, notes in the texts of the documents, etc.

 

ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS COPYING PROCEDURE WITH USERS’ ORDERS

  • Electronic copies are made by users’ orders, based on the material and technical capabilities of the archive, and the physical condition of the archival documents.
  • Users’ orders for copying documents are recorded on paper and handed over to reading hall employees. When submitting an order, it is mandatory to indicate the search data of the documents (fund, list, case, newspaper (newspapers) (Download the copy of the form).
  • The volume, terms, and types of preparation of the copies are determined by the Archive administration, taking into account the existing technical possibilities, and the physical condition of the documents.
  • Cases are fully copied with the permission of the Archive administration.
  • Orders for copying documents are not accepted if the copying may damage their physical condition, as well as when the physical condition of the documents to be copied is not good.
  • The issue of copying procedure of the rare documents, as well as require case breakdown and/or repair, is resolved by the Archive administration on a case-by-case basis.
